A strange construction diagonal to the Obelisk  –  Una construccion muy pintoresca y extraña en diagonal al obelisco

Once you have seen it you can’t avoid pondering who came up with such a weird idea.

The French style building on top of which this house is built belonged to the furniture company Muebles Díaz.

In the summer of 1926, Mr. Díaz saw a villa in Mar del Plata, which he liked very much so he decided to reproduce it on the roof of his building.

What Mr. Diaz used this house for? As he lived in Banfield, a district in the outskirts of the city where naps are a widespread custom, every day he would take take a nap in “his little house on the Roof.”

Time passed by and the appearance of the Avenue changed completely, but we still can be surprised by this eccentricity.

Chalet en Altura Diagonal al Obelisco

Al que pudo observarlo no deja de llamarle la atención, y puede que se pregunte a quién se le ocurrió esta idea.

El Edificio, estilo francés, sobre el cual se encuentra esta casa, pertenecía a la empresa Muebles Díaz. El señor Díaz en el verano de 1926, se deslumbró tanto con un chalet que vio en Mar del Plata, que decidió reproducirlo en el techo de su edificio.

Saben para qué utilizaba Díaz, este chalet? Como él vivía en Banfield (en las afueras de la Ciudad), todos lo días dormía la siesta en ‘’su casita en el Techo’’.

Mucho tiempo paso y la fisonomía de la ‘Avenida’ cambió completamente, pero todavía podemos asombrarnos con esta excentricidad.
