Lanin Passage

Lanín Street is located in the neighborhood of Barracas, in the south of Buenos Aires.

Short and winding, it presents the particularity of being a permanent exhibition of urban art based on an idea by artist Marino Santa María. The project, which was inaugurated on 19th April 2001, covers Lanín Street from Brandsen Street to Suárez Avenue, and consisted in painting the fronts of its houses with vertical, horizontal and undulating shapes, taking into account the original styles and colors of the buildings.

The fronts were painted in a predominance of primary colors, and intending to be consistent with the architectural style of each house. Lanín Passage residents supported the initiative and some even painted up the façades of their homes, changed the sidewalks and increased the lighting to be in line and make the street look even better.

Se llama Pasaje Lanín, y se encuentra en el barrio de Barracas, al sur de la Capital.

Corta y sinuosa, presenta la particularidad de ser una muestra permanente de arte urbano gracias a una idea y realización del artista plástico Marino Santa María. El proyecto, que fue inaugurado el 19 de abril de 2001, abarca la calle Lanín desde Brandsen hasta la avenida Suárez, y consistió en pintar de colores 40 frentes de viviendas con formas verticales, horizontales y onduladas, teniendo en cuenta los estilos y colores de los edificios

Los frentes fueron pintados con predominio de colores primarios, y buscando ser coherentes con el estilo arquitectónico de cada casa. Los vecinos de Lanín apoyaron la iniciativa y algunos hasta pintaron las fachadas de sus hogares, cambiaron las veredas y aumentaron la iluminación para estar a tono y mejorar aún más el aspecto de la calle.
